This is a cotton prayer flag that is screen printed with the image of Shakyamuni Buddha along with the mantra texts at the bottom. These are handmade prayer flags. The image of Shakyamuni Buddha represents a moment of awakening, and conveys Buddha's enlightenment. It helps to calm the mind, illustrate motivation and symbolizes the union of body and mind, earth and heaven. The mantra of Shakyamuni Buddha is om muni muni maha muniye soha. Shakyamuni’s mantra is a play on his name. Muni means sage. Maha means great. So the mantra reads “Om wise one, wise one, greatly wise one, wise one of the Shakyans, Hail!
